PROVIDE RELIEF TO THE CURRENT CRISIS IN HAITI

Dear Friends,

The many days of receiving the rain bands of category 5 storm Melissa have greatly impacted Haiti — with authorities reporting at least 25 deaths largely due to floods in Petit-Goave, a coastal town 40 miles west of Port-au-Prince, where a river burst its banks.  Our Haiti operations team has reached out to all our local nurses in Port-au-Prince and in our village schools, and thankfully, no sponsored children or family members lost their lives. Unfortunately, however, the hurricane destroyed many gardens and flooding swept away goats, chickens, and other livestock—especially in the localities of Robert and Brajirois. These animals are a vital source of income for families in those areas.

The most impacted area of homes was in Cité Soleil — where heavy rains caused extensive damage. This area collects runoff water from the hillsides of Port-au-Prince, worsening the flooding. Our team reported today that many children in our sponsorship program have been affected by flooding and are in urgent need of support.  With our Haiti team on the ground, we can respond immediately with aid.

Please continue to keep all impacted families in your prayers.

Blessings,
Ken
